Pretending that you have two options when there are actually many is unlikely to result in wise choices or relevant opinions.

I sometimes think there is a special "Gene" that some people have that makes them want to complicate things beyond necessity. Usually it turns out to be an inability or unwillingness to steel themselves to the sticking point. Keep things in doubt, and "when in doubt, do nothing."

Clinton was a classic example. People say they would go into the Oval Office to talk to him, and no matter what the subject, he knew more. He would explore it forever. But he would stall forever on making tough decisions that could possibly hurt him.
