It is all about making enough money to continue ongoing operations with enough excess income to invest in the future.

The obvious income streams are from subscriptions and advertising eyeball hits. Are there any others?

If you want to grow income through subscriptions, you must never never never offer any more lifetime deals. I actually paid for my SI membership but you never saw the money since I signed up in '98. Sampling the profiles of people in threads that I read and post on, I find that nearly everyone has been around as long as or longer than me.

Since I don't see any ads, I am not really contributing income through eyeballs so my only contribution is by posting content which, I am sure, most people quickly click through.

If you want to grow through ad revenue, you will have to start showing them to everyone that is not paying a monthly fee - say $5.00/mo for ad-free pages.

I can accept both possibilities (grandfathered with ads or a minimal monthly fee to suppress them). I already pay ~ $60/month for the other two services I subscribe to for market data and more than that in commissions, so a minimal charge on my CC would just be another cost of doing business.

If you want to grow revenue through higher monthly subscriptions, you will have to come up with something pretty nifty to get me to sign up.

Things that would interest me are:

1. FTP Storage space with internal link capability
2. Annotable charts with storage (public and private)
3. Real time portfolios (public and private)
4. Real-time price alert technology
5. Real-time news alert technology

Kind of an E-bay model (if you think about the sellers). If you had these things and they worked well, I would consider moving the ~$60/mo that I am already paying for these features to your income stream.
