Bema and Placer do both have exposure to SA.

Placer is reworking the South Deep mine which is projected to produce 700k oz per year by 2007 and has a long life reserves. PDG owns 50%.

BGO has their Petrex property in SA which is supposed to produce 200k oz per year and has 1.6 million oz reserves according to their website.

Wade has been telling us that we should be watching the price of Gold in Rands. Although Gold has gained well in $USD the Rand has appreciated strongly against the $USD. If Gold moves up sharply in Rand the SA based producers which have their cost in Rand should have a good move. Form the chart below we can see that the Rand/Gold price appears to have broken out of its downward trend.

Regarding puts on the Q's, Why try to stop a frieghtrain? I favor shorting myself but timing this doesn't seem possible right now.
