here is a gray in the Palestinian/Israeli conflict.

What is the grey in the Hamas position?

What is the grey in the PA protecting Hamas and other extremist groups, even letting their members out of prison to go kill some more?

What is the grey in Iraq and now Iran and perhaps SA and others paying the families of suicide bombers?

I never said that the Hamas were looking for the gray. Its all black and white with them as well. That's the problem. However, who do you think should move into the gray first? The one who is in control or the one who seems himself as the underdog?

And what about your perspective? You think that its horrific that other families give money to the families of suicide bombers. While I agree, I think its equally horrific that we give Israel $3 billion a year so that it has one of the finest militaries in the world. Our unbridled financial support encourages Israel to do what it damn pleases. Until recently, Sharon had been fairly ruthless in his dealings with the Palestinians.

If the PA would assiduously attack those practices, outlaw them, arrest all those plotting or planning suicide attacks that they could with diligent police work find (as we know, with Oklahoma City, you cant find them all, but you can find most of them), shutting down all the known bomb making factories, confiscating all the payments to the families of suicide bombers, etc., I could find some grey.

What comes first......the chicken or the egg? The Palestinians are the aggrieved party. To expect them to be good and behave themselves in light of the compete control Israel has over them is pure foolishness. Sharon/Israel knows that.......that's why they keep insisting that the Hamas chill before they will sit down and talk. In fact, Sharon is counting on the Hamas not to cooperate. The suicide bombings are a small price to pay for keeping control over the occupied territories, maintaining control over the huge water aquifer under the West Bank [in a land where water is as valuable as gold] and continuing to develop new settlements in the territories.

And in case that doesn't work, Sharon from time to time will make outrageous statements on national tv like "the Palestinian people are not bad people but they will never have their independence". Do you think that makes the Palestinians happy campers?

The only thing that will move the Israelis is fear of the demographics issue. They do not want to lose control of Israel.

But as it stands now, I don't see much grey that you can realistically point to.

BTW, while you won't believe it, I'm actually a moderate on the Middle East conflict. But you are such a fanatic Palestinian apologist and promoter that you force others out of neutrality into opposition just to balance you out.

I am hardly a fanatic on the Palestinian issue. If you learn the facts as I have, you can not help but change your point of view on the subject. I find most Americans are ignorant of the facts. And even when presented with the facts, they have a hard time changing their views because of their fear of being branded an anti Semite as the Israelis now are accusing the Europeans. Even some of my Israelis friends agree with me......those who have emigrated to the US. And then, there are Israelis living in Israel who also agree.

If you are an honest and fairminded person, you can not help but change your views after reading the facts.
