FIRST race of the year, the 500 at Daytona, I'm standing next to Nascar dad for the anthem.

My son, 35, is a NASCAR nut. He lives with his dog in a beautiful lakefront cottage in the boonies. He told me yesterday he is taking a week off and will be in Daytona next month for the full week of racing. He usually camps in the infield in his RV.

We don't talk politics much...We usually worry together over more important things like fishing and camping. He came by early yesterday and spent the entire day helping me with some chores. At breakfast, I asked him what he thought about the demo contenders. He looked me in the eye, smiled and asked, "Are you sure you want to talk politics with me?" I said I was curious. He said, "I am voting for Bush, I do not listen the demos critique each other. I have no opinion on them?" I then asked him about his NASCAR buddies. He said all of his friends but one is voting for Bush and the one is undecided.

Based on my poll, I would say GWB gets the NASCAR vote.
