I think it's a shame the Hubble will die prematurely for some pipe dream. I thought it had something to do with not being ready to fly shuttles yet. In general I know we can learn more using cheaper unmanned missions. At some point if we can see an unavoidable need for humans we send them as needed. I'd like to see some efforts for asteroid avoidance systems. Just going for joyrides to the 4th rock from the sun is a waste of money.
