OT ** Jan & Semi, Jan's statement is accurate according to my understanding. I almost always have unused buying power in my margin account so the naked put write absorbs some of this but does not cost me anything. It's best to talk to a margin clerk at your brokerage for a complete explanation. There may be some variation among brokers. BTW, Interactive Brokers has some of the lowest commissions around, so you might consider them. I use Brown & Co. which is also pretty good. Sam
