There is a limit to FAIR USE. Wholescale copying of entire articles in great number would not, IMO, be considered FAIR USE.

Many websites keep their archives open although some like the NYTimes, the LATimes and TIME mag do not. Still, getting the gist of the article is better than not having it at all especially as the archives are generally available for a reasonably small fee.
