The Japanese tourists can't get over how cheap they are.

Fortunately there aren't many Japanese tourists here to run up the prices. I go to a neighborhood restaurant that miraculously snagged the best sushi chef around and you can really tell the quality of the fish. Since I'm a morning person, I eat my main meal mid-day. This place has a very generous assorted sashimi plate at lunch, which I eat several times a week. With an equally generous tip, I get out of there for fifteen bucks. What a deal! Were I in Waikiki I'd probably be eating something else. Mongolian BBQ maybe. I used to eat that a lot when I visited.

Japanese tourists? Does that mean the soft dollar is finally working? We haven't had Japanese tourists here in years. Used to have them all the time.
