Just one more quick one here and then Via PM

I like 3D, invitational to 3NT, which pard will bid. 3H close second, which I agree should be forcing.
This hand actually passed, with which I disagree.

This was my partner's hand. My hand was KJxxx xx Kx Kxxx. Perhaps I should have rebid 2NT.

Opening leader holding Txx Jxx ATxx xxx must lead low spade (on this auction) to the A for a diamond thru in order to beat 3NT.

You can see that just changing your hand slightly KJ of S to the A guarantees 3NT from your side. That is why 2NT by you is a better bid than 3C probably. But Kx is only one stopper and if partner can not help 3NT can easily go down the tubes. For NT purposes that spade A is worth far more than the KJ. For 6C it is as well. At any rate, lets call 3C vs 2NT a tossup or even a slightly wrong error. Regardless, partner made the LAST mistake. I was thinking 6C SLAM and a slam that makes when people might even be going down in 3NT on. The reason I bid 3H instead of 3D is that I want to stress the good hearts. Partner can always bail at 4H (which on one of those hands I gave was "the god spot" 5-2 fit). On the actual hand, over 3H you would have had an EASY 3NT call and voilla we are in a makeable game from the right side.

But with the Spade A instead of KJ (no points differential) we should be looking for 4H or 6C not 3NT.

If I TAKE 3 points from would't you want to get to 4H with
Axxxx xx xx Kxxx (5 hearts, 4 clubs, and Ace S = 10 tricks)

1h-1s-2c-3c-3h-3s-4c-4h gets to a rock solid 4H contract
Moving one D to an additional S or C gets to a rock solid 6C contract when you cuebid the stiff diamond on the way to 5 C. 1h-1s-2c-3c-3h-3s-4c-4d on
Axxxxx xx x Kxxx OR
Axxxx xx x Kxxxx
Gets to a beautiful 6C contract

BTW I am rusty as hell.
Extremely extremely rusty (as in I havent played for 4 years).
But if you want to play internent bridge some evening I might be up to try it. Never have.

At any rate, your partner passing is awful.
Once clubs were raised he should have been thinking club slam with a chance to stop in NT, or 4H on the way.
