Very good quote Scott,

Thank you so much for posting it. We ALL should spend some time today reflecting on MLK's thoughts and philosophies.

BTW, one of our all time favorite songs is "Abraham, Martin and John".. I just happened to think about it while typing this.

Thanks again,

m

The problem now stretches from Viet Nam through Taiwan and Japan to Korea.

5th Death From Avian Flu

n 8-year-old girl died Saturday at a hospital in Hanoi, Vietnam, from avian influenza, according to the World Health Organization and Vietnamese officials.

She was confirmed as the fifth human case of the disease; all have been fatal. The victims are believed to have become infected by some contact with chickens, but not from eating them or from eating eggs.

The girl became ill on Jan. 11 and was admitted to the hospital on Thursday. The W.H.O. said there was no evidence of person-to-person spread of the virus.

Fingers crossed about the person-to-person virus.

"The Ultimate Weakness of Violence"
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

"The ultimate weakness of violence
is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks
to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies
it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you
cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth.
Through violence you murder the hater, but you do not
murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases
hate...Returning violence for violence multiples
violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already
devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness;
only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out
hate: Only love can do that."

-Martin Luther King, Jr.

---------------------------------------------------------

As long as I can remember, our friends and enemies in the Middle East have TRIED to use violence to settle their differences, all to no avail. Things have only got worse.

But did our country's leadership learn from these other's mistakes? NO..Did they take any of MLK's advice.. No, not one bit.. :((.. They just added more violence and hate to the mix.. And the "descending spiral" just continues...

Very Sad,

m

P.S.

And I just heard on TV, Bush is attending a lunch honoring MLK.. What can I say? ..sigh..
