the majority of people in the US are very ignorant about science That is not my experience with friends and colleagues from the US, but I would not argue that they are representative of the nation at large. Especially at a time when a presidential candidate bragged about never reading books nor newspapers, AND got elected. Since religion is declining in Europe, you are lucky- you don't have an anti-rational faction emanating from a large religious section of your populace- and I envy you that. I think I lived quite long enough in such places, thank you very much :-)
