It all seems strange until you realize that Dems and Reps are virtually identical. Not so unusual as the US is centrist, logical, moderate as a whole. That's why elections are so close, 60% being a landslide. What I find strange, is how the extremists of both the left and the right sound so much alike. One could take the rantings of the KKK, nazi-loving, fundamentalist right wing and put them next to the extreme leftists and both would sound very similar. They would talk of conspiracies to control the media, shadow government, how their own world is burdened by boogeymen, etc. Add in the religious radicals on both ends of the spectrum and you have more similarities among nutcases than differences.
