Lets see how this plays out.

Bush is not a sophisticated gamer, being so dogmatic.
The Old Skool - France, Germany, Russia, China - are not going to allow the US to have control and give them help, and the US do not want to give up control, though want to be out for the elections.

I do not see a resolution.
The Old Skool will only go in if Bremer leaves and the US takes over civil control from the US. I cannot see Bush allowing this. Unless the US leaves poltical control it will be all bun and no beef.

My guess is that the US will still be in control, and the UN will just say that full elections by summer are unrealistic.
Bush is really on his own here. I feel he knows it, he knows what he has to do to get other people on his side. But being the evangelist he is, he does not want to give it up.

After all the US still wants to run the Iraqi secret police.
