THE DIFFERENCE: Just check out both David Brooks' and Paul Krugman's columns in the NYT this morning. One actually tries to look at the opposing party empathetically, attempting to understand what's going on, hoping for the best. The other is pure, demonizing, personal bile. One tries to give others' motives the benefit of every doubt. The other refuses to do anything but impugn the other side's motives.
