muzosi,

You're the one with the hole. If the government made it legal it would probably fall under the jurisdiction of the ATF/USDA or the FDA. Which unlike the simple foot patrolmen has very broad new powers under the Home Land security legislation. It would mean it would be a federal crime to grow it without a permit and paying the appropriate taxes. Especially if you attempted to compete against tax paying commercial growers.

You can make home made beer and wine, but not distilled spirits.

This is a classic example of something better not asked for, as you may not get what you had expected.
You would take a simple misdemeanor and turn it into a felony over night.

muzosi,

re:gov will put your ass in jail if you smoke pot. what happened to individual liberties and responsibility ? why don't we make tobacco illegal ?

Curious, if the government made pot legal, exactly where could you smoke it?

I mean it gives a whole new meaning to second hand smoke! If you think some folks are offended by tobacco, just wait.

You can't smoke near children and many cities are banning regular tobacco in bars and restaurants so it probably can't be done in public at all.

What would be the penalty for driving stoned?

What would be the safe legal limit to drive and how would it be measured?

You can't smoke at home if you have kids, that would be child endangerment and they may take your kids away.

You can't get the dog stoned or PETA might come for you.

I'd bet we couldn't go a year before someone would sue the government for legalizing a known "gateway" drug direct to heroin and make everyone else responsible for their own actions - you liberals love that stuff. We'd have the ACLU representing you, but they'd all be stoned so they'd probably lose.

muzosi,

the inability of some conservatives to see the holes in their thinking doesn't cease amaze me even though i should know better. so tobacco is legal and as people should have individual responsibility you shouldn't sue the manufacturers even though they denied that it kills people for decades but the high and mighty gov will put your ass in jail if you smoke pot.

It looks like this issue is particularly dear to you. One think I can say is that conservatives are not of one opinion on this subject, neither are the liberals.
