When my sister was pregnant with her
first baby we read an advice column dealing
with the "issue" of what to say to a new
mom or dad about a baby that is, shall we say,
only as cute as a button in parental eyes.<g>

The columnist suggested that an
appropriate response might be to state

Oh, what an interesting baby

Of course, we got a lot of teasing
mileage out of that after the baby was born....

But, we finally did assure my sis that the baby
was NOT "interesting" and that her
motherly eyes had not been deceived.:-)

I suspect Ms. Zonder's interest in the
"interesting" comment was like
remarking on an ugly baby....i.e.,
she did not agree with the assessment and
preferred the darker interpretation of
events.
