Ten,

re: Maybe I ought to back up and kill this strawman before you run away with it. No one is arguing for the abolishing of taxes. The debate is over how much one should be taxed and what factors that should depend on.

And... "what factors" should taxes depend on?

The economy?
Ability to pay and survive?
Trickle down?
Strength of the dollar?
Employment reports?
Outflow vs. Inflow (surplus/deficit)?

It's a liberal/conservative acid test, but has NOTHING to do, in this wacky political world, with Dems/Reps.

Make your pick and show your colors.

John

Ted, Well, now that you've invalidated the bible, I hope you feel better.

No, I'm merely invalidating your interpretation of it.

Actually, you did not change my interpretation one iota.......there is no analogy between the collection of taxes and slavery. However, you have fed right into the argument many cite about the bible.......great story book with little or no validity.

The point still stands that taxes have been around since biblical times

Maybe I ought to back up and kill this strawman before you run away with it. No one is arguing for the abolishing of taxes. The debate is over how much one should be taxed and what factors that should depend on. The fact that taxes existed every since Biblical times is irrelevant.

There are some on this thread who believe most, if not all taxes, should be abolished. It was their comments I was addressing.
