I know Westaim well and have followed it for years.

Westaim's subsidiary iFire is developing an inorganic electroluminescent display for HDTVs in the 36" range. The specs coming off the bench are very good, and they claim that the panel can be produced for 1/2 the cost of a 36" LCD.

Westaim's other subsidiary, Nucryst, produces nanocrystaline silver wound dressings which have been fairly successful.

I sold all my holdings back at CDN$2.40 (for a decent gain from $1.60) at the end of last September because I didn't like the odds iFire had against OLED, LCD and other display technologies. I bought back in recently, figuring I misjudged it last year. We'll see. When I buy (or sell)reactively, I have a great track record of picking the exact wrong time.
