From a newsletter I get (obviously pro-pharma). I suppose the FDA can guarantee that Chilean, Mexican or Brazilian produce won't give me cancer, viruses or parasites from inferior public health policies in those countries, but can't ensure those filthy Canadians won't send me bootleg and dangerous medications. Can anyone say "BULLSH#T"?

FDA Rejects Illinois' Request To Import Drugs
In the latest sign that the FDA is serious about ensuring the reliability of prescription drugs in the US, authorities say they won't authorize the state of Illinois to buy medicines from Canada because they can't guarantee their safety. Gov. Rod Blagojevich had asked Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson to allow the state to make the purchases on behalf of its employees and retirees as part of a pilot program.

In the meantime, federal regulators also are hoping to persuade Boston and New Hampshire officials to abandon their plans to buy less expensive drugs from across the border. The FDA has repeatedly argued that buying drugs from Canada is illegal and risky because it cannot guarantee the safety and dosages of imported products or Internet sales.

From reading your post I have no idea what a Democrat president is going to do about foreign outsourcing?

Which is what I asked.

I think the answer is nothing .... but exploit it when running against a Republican.

BTW I'm not sure there is anything we can or should do about it.
