The middle class is suffering because there are other folks around the world who are now coming to the table to eat.

That may be what immediately triggered the problem, but I don't think that's the problem. I think the problem is that a lot of the middle class suffers from lower class thinking and those that do are the ones who are at risk.

Middle class thinkers fancy themselves owners, not just workers. They are diversified. They have real estate and stocks and are not so utterly dependent on the man, whether that be the company or the state. I'm talking about psychological dependence as well as financial. When the union jobs of workers lifted them financially into the middle class, their attitudes didn't change. They just lived higher on the hog. They bought big screen TVs instead of stock in multi-national corporations.

JMHO.

michael,
"Class warfare" is just another truth that capitalist fundamentalists use to defend their greedy aspirations.
Your post infers that middle-class Americans must realize their lifestyle needs to deteriorate in order that multi-national corps can exploit slave-wage labor in 3rd world.
The fact you do not recognize the injustice in that philosophy demonstrates the callous greed of capitalist fundamentalists. Their counterparts in 19thC England created Dickens writing material. Dickens was a news reporter before writing novels. Do you defend those 19thC English opportunists? They built huge manor houses & enclosed vast expanses of land for their personal use, while the starving masses were pushed off that land and into extreme poverty.
Greed causes human beings to become dogmatic, hard-hearted creatures who cannot even recognize or admit the injustices they inflict on others.
