I lived in a Marine Officer neighborhood. They had clued me by 1967 to just how bad things were. And I was really apolitical at the time. I don't think anyone would have got us out any faster. When Nixon put the draft to lottery and people knew whither they were going or not, things really cooled off on the home front. The left would have put up with the same thing that Nixon did, if done by RFK, much easier. What I mean from the last post is that the right went along with Nixon pulling us out the way he did. They would have gone ballistic if a Democrat had pulled us out any faster,IMO.
