i think $59 is a fine entry point long term.

after listening to the cc, the outlook is pretty good. unfortunately, the company left the analysts hanging out to dry by being SO conservative. it doesn't add up.

The analysts ganged up on Eli during the c.c. and then...

...mercilessly poked and prodded him with finely sharpened #2 pencils.

He is getting a transfusion this morning before his TV appearance.

WHY IS IT THAT AN OUTSTANDING FINANCIAL REPORT HAS A SHELF LIFE
OF ABOUT 15 MINUTES WHILE ANALYST PARANOIA AND PESSIMISM LASTS THE
REST OF THE QUARTER? LAST NIGHT I SAW SHORT NEWS SNIPPETS FLOAT BY
DURING CNN STATING.....SANDISK DOWN 14% AFTER RECORD QUARTER,
WARNS OF MARGIN PRESSURE FOR SECOND HALF 2004......

THE FACT IS, Eli had to be conservative with projections due to...

1) a challenging transition in process technology that should favorably impact Q4 costs.

===> 90nm MLC will be a formiddable product for new entrants to compete with.

2) the potential entry of new competitors by late 2004.

===> this may lead to new SNDK technology licensees.

3) the need for new product categories to mature during the course of 2004.

===> multimedia cellphones, USB drives, branded MP3 players, solid state video.

4) a greater dependence on Samsung (non-captive) with lower margin final products.

===> this is part of the overall plan to ensure a steady final product stream.

I think the introduction of lower cost 512MB and 1 Gig SD and USB based products
will dovetail nicely with new product introductions. The SanDisk branded MP3
player will be a novel product. I hope they introduce a USB key + solid state video
product or a like device produced through an established digital camera manufacturer.

NOW GO GET ELI A BOX OF BANDAIDS!!!
