Well, this argument is precisely the same as that used by those who would legalize the drug trade. Whether the laws are stupid and pig-headed is not really the issue as far as I am concerned. Those laws are part of our system and as such we must enforce them until such a time as they are changed. Some laws are stupid and ought indeed be changed; but the GOP aims to ignore our laws by granting amnesty to those who have also ignored them. That is what I think has already damaged us and that will ultimately destroy us. "We are a nation of laws." That is what GOPers repeatedly said when Clinton ignored our laws because of expedience. Yuck... We will simply have to disagree on this.
