It is the only way to build a national consensus for what's going to be a long cold-war-like struggle to strengthen the forces of moderation and weaken the forces of violent intolerance within the Arab-Muslim world — which is what the real war on terrorism is about.

How can the same man who writes this today, have written three days ago that Israel should hand the West Bank and Gaza over to Yasser Arafat and Sheikh Yassin "to regain the moral high ground"? Doesn't he think that Palestinian forces of moderation should also be strengthened? I do not understand how he can be so schizophrenic about Israel.

BTW, I was glad to hear President Bush simply list Jerusalem as one of the sites of Islamic terrorism, along with Bali, Casablanca, Riyadh and Baghdad. No ifs, no buts. As it should be regarded.
