I understand the general concern about assimilation. I think, though, that forbidding the wearing of traditional religious symbols will not help, but will become a grievance further polarizing matters.

In America, parents have the right to exempt their children from certain activities, like sex education. I agree that forbidding all sports goes to far, and that they should not be excluded from class trips, however.

I was referring to the controversy in France.

Of course, if the applicant is simply unqualified, that is a different matter.

I am concerned about people blowing things up, which is a far cry from wearing a veil.......
