David Re..Which are we going to do? Follow the Constitution to the letter, or not? AFAIK the Patriot act is constitutional at this point. It could be legal challenges will change that. None the less, councilmen and indeed all politicians and the rest of us have an obligation to follow the law, until it is changed. Minneapolis has no right to interfere with federal law, as federal law super ceeds state laws,much less local ordinances, in common areas of interest. An investigation by the FBI takes precedence over local law enforcement. The people of Minneapolis should instruct their city lawyer to challenge the constitutionality of the Patriot Act in court, or get their congressman to write a bill, which would limit or overturn the Patriot Act. It amazes me how often people who claim to be caring for the constitution, break it.
