Jim, the fact of the matter is that nobody predicted USB drives would take off.

That category seemed to come out of nowhere!!!

Your are totally correct that nobody can predict.

For years I was using a CF card in a PCMCIA sleeve as my removable storage of choice.
In my opinion this was the best way of carrying large amounts of data, like PowerPoint
slide presentation, from PC to PC, particularly laptops. That was clear at the time.
Before that it was Zip disks. Now it is a USB drive and one-time use CD's.

The market for pocketable storage has always existed. It wasn't until a photo took 2 MB,
a song 5 megabytes, and a video sequence 50 megabytes that USB drives took off.

Jim, how about adding USB connectivity to LCD projectors...

...so that you could plug in a USB flash drive or a flash card directly without a laptop?

I am very interested in an eventual purchase of an LCD projector for a home theater.
Right now we have a 1987 era RCA television that I bought during residency, so a home
theater will be a major upgrade for us. In the meantime I am getting this...
