Falwell and the religious right say all manner of foul things from which most religious people quickly disavow themselves. Sure there are. However, there aren't very many religious preachers who tell their followers to destroy people and things they disagree with. There is nothing wrong with having a contrarian view. There is something wrong when he tells his followers to commit acts against the state, or people. Secondly, your original post stated that the Wahabi clerics might overthrow the Saudi monarchy which is not a very likely prospect for the reasons I previously posted. Now, you are saying something different. I didn't just give you some reasons I thought up, I gave you a link, to somebody who knows better then both of us. If you don't want to believe that guy's reasoning fine, I can't help you. ONce again, there are 2 sides to Wahhabbism, the Tarquat side, and the Tawkit side. Crown prince Abdullah is on the Tarquat side, his brother is on the Tawkit side. If we remove Abdullah, then his brother Najaf, could take over, and he favors the more radical Tawkit side. And if we get rid of the whole monarchy, then the radical Tawkit clerics could take over. Its al Qaeda that wants to overthrow the Saudi monarchy and not the Wahabi leaders. Agreed. However, follow your argument to it logical conclusion. If the US overthrows the Saudi leadership, then what will the Wahhabi clerics, and/or OBL do. For now the US needs to stabilize Iraq, set up a strong democracy, probably with strong Shia leadership, then hope the Tarquat faction wins out in SA, or take on the Tawkit faction. We can't isolate ourselves from SA in the middle east, until we have enough influence in another country there, because of the importance of oil.
