My impression of Calandra was that he would latch onto a
hot sector AFTER it was already booming in effort to make
himself seem like he was way ahead of the curve. First he
did it with the internuts, then net infrastructure, and
then got hot on gold after it had already risen a large
percentage and the bear in the Nasdaq was well in effect.
It was like he was in charge of corralling the sheep.

I was never really impressed with his thoughts since it
often seemed that I read them somewhere else long before,
from someone who actually is saavy.

I imagine it must have difficult for him to research and
write about these sectors without wanting to be part of the
action. It's just natural. You get all excited about the
potential but then you are not allowed to act upon it.

Makes me wonder how the writer at Barrons and other
financial magazines are able to do without buying what they
find to be exciting and have explosive potential. I would
imagine they have friends who get a hint of what will be
coming out in print.

Perhaps the dude who is profiting the most is the working
shlub operating the printing press for these rags. He's
probably on the phone with his broker the minute the first
page rolls off. He might even have a group of traders
lining his pockets for the inside scoop. <g> <ng>

I wonder how they differentiate between a writer like
Calandra and fund manger like Louis Navelier who is on
every week or so explaining why his stocks are going to
out-pace the market.
