I believe it's due to the revamping of the TV Guide Channel.
I haven't seen the new channel or the new TV Guide magazine so I can't say that it's either one for sure.

Nice to see some movement from this stiff.

Pomp,

Coincidence or not, the surge in volume and price coincided with the story run by the NYT on Thursday that Malone had increased his percentage of voting stock in NWS substantially--without Murdoch et. al being aware of it--caught them flatfooted. Became a 13d reportable event. Malone had reduced his position in recent years, in an absolute sense as well as in number of voting shares. But he unwound a collar, converted into voting stock and has been buying the open market.
