I believe that a far better strategy ought to be implemented; it would be to your benefit... a direct confrontation is most definitively NOT in your best interest oh please, let's just cut to the chase. i have no intention of getting into a tedious longwinded pissing match with you about your take on past american foreign policies errors. suffice to say mistakes were made.. but you sit there like an arm chair quarterback denigrating current american foreign policy vis a vis iraq saying how badly we blew it by not removing saddam during the gulf war (we agree) out of one side of your mouth and apparently suggesting that we blew it by taking him out BY THE VERY SAME MEANS (militarily) 12 years later out of the other. and you accuse us of "direct confrontation" <GASP!> after years and years of pussyfooting around with inspection upon inspection, obfuscation upon obfuscation, saddam violating time after time read this time line of events post gulf war and tell me just how directly "confrontational" we were.usinfo.state.gov we *should* have been a helluva lot more confrontational and taken him out at the first violation, we would have at least had timeliness AND the supporting UN resolutions (which by the way we still had *before* 1441....but the previous admin lost the timeliness factor....i mean saddam had been in violation all of those years with no signficant repercussion, why start now? why indeed. well make no mistake about it...the "clock" was reset on 9/11. 1441 was passed, saddam was given months to comply and he failed. hence "serious consequences" war i'm sorry you disagree, but i haven't heard an alternative solution coming from you as how we would have removed saddam , only complaints about the route we took to remove him. perhaps you should quit crying over your perception of spilt milk and to get over it. the job is done, saddam and his regime are history, (and i can't wait to see the bastard put on trial by the iraqis) an no we don't know who will be the ultimate leader of iraq and how long it will take to ultimately pacify the country...like i said before there are risks and no guarantees (btw, just how long have we been in germany or s. korea or kosovo....what's our exit strategy there? don't bother answering, it's a rhetorical question)
