I really liked Salzman's book, as you know.

I finished How to Lose Friends and ALienate People- which I REALLY liked. It's a very literate book, as well as being a good tattle tale. It's the only book I've come across that has an allusion to "A Dance To the Music of Time" in it. And since I recently read the multivolume set, I appreciated that little bone being tossed to me.

I am reading Nick Hornby's "About a Boy", Kiana Davenport's "Song of the Exile", and Joanna Hershon's "Swimming". I finally finished "The Immaculate Invasion" about Haiti. It was very good, and has all sorts of relevance to the stupid Iraq war.

We're starting Macbeth at school, so am deep into that was well. I've decided to give mnemonic names to the characters to help the kids remember who they are. We're doing dog names- Duncan is "King", Lady Macbeth is...."Spot".

The others aren't as funny :-( but I'll work on it.

Hi Rambi,

re: "Bridges of Madison County did. No wait- that's not fair. Bridges left me gagging on the floor.
It wasn't as bad as Celestine Prophecies""

I never read "Bridges" so I didn't have to "gag on the floor". But I knew I would.. Nice description though :)..

But I did read the "Celestine Prophecy" and I liked it at the time I read it. And maybe I liked it because at that time, I was looking for, like you say, a "simple magical answer", to the universe or whatever. As I look back on the various stages in my reading, I can relate the type of book to my various stages of life. That's not a profound statement, I know, but it's simple.. I like to make the simple, complex. <g>.. BTW, I got into CP so much, we are planning to go to Peru and hunt down some "prophecies" .. Not really, just kidding.. Peru is on, but "prophecies" are not, on the second thought, well maybe,.. never rule out anything,I say......:)

So now, I read much less in the way of books, and much more on the computer screen. Something that always doesn't work for me. :(.. So back to more books.. Talking about that, where my wife works, today, they held a fund raiser, a BOOK SALE.. A message maybe? She kept calling me, and asking me if I wanted this or that.. She even found a Edward Abbey book, I didn't have. Cheap too.. She ended up with a bag full..

Better stop and go do something..

Take care,

m
