Some large caps doing well, though. MSFT really was a head fake after E.

February blues -

I mentioned this last week in passing but I think it may be worth elaborating. It is quite common for the markets to have a pullback in February - especially if there has been a Santa Claus rally. I've heard a ton of explanations - normal pullback from a rally, Christmas bills come due at the end of January, February is the most depressing month etc. etc..

Bottom line - a pullback here is normal and to be expected. So covered calls, or taking profits is a reasonable thing to do.
...As for this being the end of the rally - that won't become clear for a few more weeks. So if you are a buy and hold type who doesn't want to chase the 10% ripples - wait it out but stay alert - pullbacks and downtrends look the same at the start.

IMO - the DOW may test 10,000 and NASDAQ will probably test 2000. No, I am not a technician but I have learned over the years that the market has a perverse attraction to numerology ;-)
