Sam,

The people with religious views on this subject seem to be the 'progressive' left. The concept of 'safe sex' with condoms is ridiculous. Safer than without - yes, but safe - no.

Any number of studies on pregnancy (a sexually transmitted condition) show that condoms are only 90 to 92% effective in practical terms (although up to 97% in labs). So how are they magically 100% effective against AIDS?

Do you promote having 'safe sex' with other potentially fatal STD's? No one in the medical establishment does, so why do we treat AIDS different?

If we treated this disease like any other potentially fatal STD - then we would take politics out of it. Or do you promote 'safe sex' for people with active syphilis as well?

I would say "don't get me started on that" but as you've probably seen by now, I've gotten started. What you really have to be careful of is getting E started on that. A real hobby horse of hers. <g>
