I didn't see a reason for him to get in the middle without researching the facts. A politician however would take the situation in his own hands, define who a deserter is and say that he does not know of Bush deserting in a way that would fit the definition. He did not do that.

If you ask whether he would be a good politician since he did not do that. I would say no. Is that a negative for a President? Which would you prefer and trust: for someone to shout from rooftops that he is an outsider / compassionate conservative or someone who actually shows
