As others have pointed out, the inflation versus deflation debate misses the point.

Inflation versus deflation is a remnant of a time when countries behaved in a more fiscally responsible manner, and had things like balanced budgets and gold standards. Now, we have all manner of lunatic practices and we'll see inflation and deflation together.

Deflation in the things overseas competitors can make. This includes services and software.

Inflation in the things they can't make, like health care, land, oil and...

Gold.

Prechter is dead wrong. The US is determined to print as much money as it takes to keep the game going.
