Interestingly, before the war, Al Qaeda had a website which could be accessed here in the USA. But all it was, except for a photo of OBL layered into the screen, was a website that linked readers to both American and international mainstream press accounts, reporting and opinion, material already within the public domain. US censorship, however, eventually made it impossible for Americans to access this site. In effect, all the US policy did was stop a photo of OBL and mainstream news from around the world.
