He proposed a series of measures, most of which lacked sufficient support, to cut spending programs for intelligence.

Did he succeed in cutting the budget and the size of the CIA. I don't know and the author does not care to say what the results of his efforts were. If they did not have cuts then obviously he has the right to question the status of the CIA since many thing shave happened with the CIA then. Do you know what they are? I don't, but one thing I know is that there have been changes. It could not have been static.

With Dean, we all saw what happened on TV. We don't have to read news article to find that out.

That was indeed an interesting article re Kerry. His emergence as possible front runner hasn't thrilled me; however, it was nice to find he & I share same opinion about one group:

"In 1998, Mr. Kerry criticized the "stifling bureaucracy" of the public school system and called for an "end to teacher tenure as we know it," incorporating some of his ideas into a bill he co-sponsored with Senator Gordon H. Smith, Republican of Oregon. He also worked with Senator Christopher S. Bond, Republican of Missouri, on a bill to allow direct grants to charities, including religious institutions, for certain early childhood education programs. Both measures were opposed by teachers unions and other Democratic constituencies"

P.S. Not holding my breath to hear him echo that opinion in 2004.
