Maybe Dubya can invite him to Crawford.

Heck... he hasn't been out of his house in years...

But it was evident that early on in the post-war period that Al-Sistani was going to be a major factor in the political future of Iraq. Especially when many of those Shiite clerics aligned with him were assassinated in the early months.

And this is why I'm just getting sick of the UN not stepping up to the plate to uphold it international obligations to restructure and rebuild the Iraqi political system...

They're playing their little game of "Bush needs to beg for our help", trying to undercut the US effort in the country, and essentially giving us a Nero routine.. fiddling while Rome burns..

And the Iraqi people still remain caught in the middle between the bickering international parties who have the power to make their lives better, or to make them hell...

And it's this lack of a unified front by the UN and it's members to see Iraq rebuilt which is creating much of the support for any resistance..

The UN should not be sitting in Cyprus and Jordan, trying to manage their obligations in Iraq... They should be in Iraq...

But they are content that US forces remain the primary focus of resistance attacks, rather than exposing the legitimacy of the UN to it...

Heaven forbid the world perceive the UN as being an enemy of the Muslim world, and a legitimate target for Islamic militants..

Apologize for my little tirade there.... I feel better now..
