I have read somewhere that some countries would allow you to retain citizenship even if US does not allow it. So the problem appears when some still hold old citizenship without informing US government.
If that was similar case with that Canadian fellow then he should have been sent to syria because his Canadian citizenship would be obtained based on false information and hence not valid.
If canada indeed allow dual citizenship with syria then we should require visas for canadians let alone allowing dual canian/US citizenship.
