misheldo there are no magic solution, my comment was in respect to compare the US v "Old Europe"

One venue IMHO would be to improve democracy and enforce laws even if the violation are on a daily basis. (e.g WS type of crimes and insider selling)

First I would put a special progressive income tax to up to 80% for all WS types from broker to the top management's.

Further I would do the same on US corporate management and those receiving various option compensation which is sold.

This tax should start aggressively above $200,000 a year and reach 80% around $1.5 million in direct or indirect income or compensation. No taxation on equity left in the business only at the time of retrieval including heirs. (meaning no taxation if the business goes from one generation to another as long as the equity stays in the company)

2. Would be a Federal property taxes for properties above $1 million let say of about 5% a year growing to 10% a year for properties above $5 million etc.

3. Also I would place a sell transaction tax on financial assets for all including WS outfits, and various hedge or mutual funds of 0.25% of transaction value, except of IPO's and other debt placement including government or government agencies. (meaning you buy it no tax you sell for what ever reason pay 0.25% to the Fed's)

3. will apply a tax on gasoline in the proper amount to cover the cost of repairs and building US highways bridges and roads and a yearly combustion volume tax on all vehicles except those with commercial license and proven use for commercial use (same as the IRS treats various busienss related expenses)

4. 10% Federal tax on all alcoholic beverages with over 4% alcohol content

Would seriously consider a progressive luxury tax for items priced 2 to 3 times the average cost of similar products.

So forget shopping at Bergdorf Goodman, Barney's, Armani, Prada, etc, expensive French vines, Rolodexes,Grimoldi watches etc. Ferrary or Porshe etc.

Many would not like it ........ oh well then F*&k them let them eat cacke

More ideas later
