way off, California has a voter passed initiative that essentially prohibits any meaningful property tax reassessment. If you bought a house 30 years ago, you still pay taxes on what that house was worth, THEN.

This is the entire problem with CA in terms of taxes and the fact that nobody mentions it on the news shows is hugely misleading. CA has almost no property taxes for homeowners over about 55 yrs. Age discrimination at its finest.

CA laws are so screwed up so that type of taxation would not be surprising....
