<<...Bush's "Every Child Left Behind" needs more bally-hoo. The general public should become aware that both in theory and practice, this program is a huge flop that is injuring children...>>

lurqer: that is SO TRUE...Yesterday, I had lunch with a girl I hadn't seen since I was a child...She has been a teacher up in Michigan for almost 10 years...She helped write a grant so her magnet school could get some Federal Funding for Montessori training...She is working in the inner city with many troubled kids and still doesn't have the resources necessary for her classroom to reach its full potential. She told me that the 'Leave No Child Behind Program' is a total joke according to most public school teachers she knows -- Mr. Bush has failed to properly back up his challenges with funding. She has often had to go out and buy essential supplies for her kids with her own money (and its not like teachers are overpaid). Does our President really care about education....? I don't think so. My report 'from the field' yesterday was very disturbing. My friend Anne did say her union is committed to working very hard to support a Democratic challenger to Bush.
