Ted, WMDs was the key factor There were many factors, and WMD happened to be the most obvious one, given that the U.N. sanctions were originally based on that. If Bush lied, so did everyone else who thought Iraq had WMD, including Kerry who voted for the Iraq war. No! That is not the way it was. Bush was sure that Iraq had WMDs and was developing nukes. Powell showed pics of Iraq to the UN where those weapons were being manufactured. He show trucks carrying those weapons. Bush said he had evidence that Saddam had bought weapons grade uranium in Niger. Bush insisted that Congress approve is plan to invade Iraq. Many in Congress including Kerry asked that the weapon inspectors be allowed to do their job. Bush would not wait and insisted on the authority to move........and then said he would move without that authority. Kerry ended up voting for the war but he did not lie. Bush and his cronies called those people who did not vote for the invasion soft on terrorism. What choice did a Congressman or Senator have? Their constituents were afraid and Bush used their fear to get his way. Bush, Powell, Rice and Cheney upped and upped the ante on the WMDs issue until there was enough fear........and as many of us suspected, they all lied. They have disgraced the office of the president. They need to be removed from that office. And still you sit there and it make it look like its less than what it is. They lied......they arrogantly lied and manipulated the American public to get their way. ted
