The day to day reality was considerably different What difference does the day to day reality make? The simple truth is, when you step back and look at the over all p;icture, you dish out as much as you have absorbed. My bet is that over the past 2 yrs, you probably have 2 - 3 times more posts than any other poster on this board. Slow down the posts, and the anti Bush tone, and you won't get attacked in return, so often. When one of the Dixie Chicks disagreed with the president and proclaimed her dislike for him, she was called a traitor, and she and her family received death threats. The main problem with what Maines said, wasn't what she said, but where she said it; which was in England, before an anti- American crowd; during a country concert. And country music has a reputation for being for God, country, beer, trucks, mother and apple pie. What she said about GW didn't apply to any one of them. A lot of hotheads and country purists; didn't take too kindly to her trying to turn Country into another forum for injecting left leaning views, on unsuspecting customers. If she would have chosen the right venue, such as a 60 minutes interview, or one with Barbera Wa WA, there wouldn't have been that big of an outcry. When Congressman McDermott went to Iraq and criticized the president's actions in that country, there were cries of treason I will say this again, when a congressman goes on an official visit, he is representing the interests, and policies of the US. By going to Iraq, and going public with views anti US policy, he wssn't doing the job he was sent over there for. The US army is having a hard enough time as it is, without guys like that, inciting the rebels to set off more bombs against our troops. When someone decided that my city was not flying enough American flags, it was called unpatriotic. LOL Thats funny. With Murray giving her I love OBL speeches to the kids at schools, and I heard another radical Washington congressman say something radical last fall, I doubt if the number of flags flying is the main reason for Washington's image problems. None of the above were treasonous, traitors, unpatriotic or unAmerican acts. In fact, the above people were exercising their rights as citizens of a democracy. There are times one should be discreet. Politics don't belong at Country concerts, nor should congressmen be shooting off their mouth where the enemy can hear them, in order to garner votes. Lott shouldn't have said what he did, at Stroms's going away party either. They all paid for their lack of discretion. That is why I am angry and I will do whatever I can legally to insure that regime change occurs in November. Get real. You was mad about GWB 6 months before he was elected president, and a full 18 months before the build up to Iraq. All your rant is, is another excuse. If you wouldn't have had people calling you a traitor, you would have made up some other excuse for you ante GW attitudes.
