Iran is planning to build ships to carry LNG. Negotiations are now being held with the Iranian national gas exporting company and several foreign companies with respect to building such ships. This was reported by Abdossamad Taakol, Planning Department Director at Iranian National Oil Loading Fleet Company.

The South Pars gas fields will allow the county to annually produce 7-8 mln tons of LNG. Therefore, Iran must get ready to provide international transportation of gas produced.

The Iranian ship-building company Farasakhel acquired a concession in France for building ships intended for LNG transportation. According to reports, the first ships will be built soon.
