The danger is that someone with the flu gets the chicken flu- which is now spread through contact with chickens. The strain then mutates- and human to human spread becomes possible, and a new flu that we are immune to sweeps the globe. That was the danger with SARS, that is the danger with the avian flu- that is why it matters.
