Carl,

I'm sure that I speak for everyone in saying that your comments are appreciated. I don't have a problem with your post. The only comment that I have regarding your market commentary is that I don't have a problem with anyone shorting stocks, even when it is against the trend. It's possible that the train heading down those tracks full steam will derail, and those who are shorting against the trend simply have a different perspective on the market, or a different strategy from those who are buying into the momentum.

It has been suggested before that each participant be given a certain amount of money. The main problem that I see with this is that we are trying to run a realistic portfolio. How would someone new come in if all the money was allocated to existing sponsors? We can't just create another $100,000 and give it to them because it messes up the results. The only way to do that is to totally restructure the thread from a portfolio concept to what I would call a trading contest concept. The primary goal of this thread is to generate trading ideas. If we aren't meeting that goal, then I am more than willing to vote for a change in the method. I'm just not sure that giving everyone $100K is the way to do it. It could end up that the same sponsors here today will just start trading their $100K, and the only difference would be how we do the accounting. I hope that you don't get the wrong idea. I am very open to suggestions that will improve our ability to reach the goals of this thread.

Thanks,

Dan

Carl,

I don't personally swing in and out trades on a daily basis, but I do get ideas that I trade from others in this portfolio. I don't always post my reasons for the trade, but do assume that others may research stocks I have purchased, which in turn would generate new ideas for them in trading.
