Here's one take on the money supply decline:

lewrockwell.com

It's all very confusing. We have one camp yelling "inflation" (gold bugs etc.) which of course the dollar's decline should help. We have another camp yelling "deflation."

I have to believe that at some point the housing boom will start to deflate and the decline in refi's will spread through the economy. But people have been saying this for a while now, and they've been consistently wrong.

although i only minored in economics there seems to be some argument as to the proper measuring stick for money supply
now it would seem to me that it would make some sense to look at margin capacity and potential debt as well as money supply - for example the balance sheets of fannie mae and freddie mac have probably seen little contraction-they are out there borrowing lots of money and lending lots of money. is that a wash? doubt it. what about marginable securities, is that up over the past 12 months? is that part of money supply figures? My concern would be a decline in real estate prices.
BTW many of the biotechs that i owned in the 2001-2002 have not returned to those levels yet let alone their all time highs-abgx medx catg sepr mlnm maxy dvsa incy
